Samaria gorge
Samaria Gorge is one of the longest gorges in Europe with a length of approximately 16 kilometers. In 1962 Samaria Gorge has been declared a National Park and its beauty is a major attraction in the southwest of Crete for so many tourists from all over the world every year. During the hiking through the gorge, visitors have the chance to admire the lush vegetation and the rare kri-kri Cretan goat. At the end of the gorge there is a small village and harbor, named Agia Roumeli, where people can taste Cretan cousine in many typical Cretan restaurants sitting by the sea and admiring the landscape.
Activities
Samaria Gorge Tour program description:
Departure from Chania will take place early in the morning (details about the departure time will be sent to each customer depending on their location). From Chania until Omalos is 1hour and 15 minutes driving. The entrance to the Samaria Gorge will be around 08:00 and approximately at 13:30 visitors will reach the village of Agia Roumeli, the end of the hike. There they have free time for a swim and lunch* if they wish. Around 17:15 the boat leaves and brings our guests to Sougia (one hour boat trip). At Sougia our buses are waiting for our guests to bring them back to Chania (around 20:00 is the return time to Chania).
Everything will be explained by our guide who will take care of our clients and provide them the entrance tickets and boat tickets. Each one of our guests walks on their own pace and doesn't have to follow the guide.
*Meals and drinks are NOT included.
